COIL Workshop - 2024
$250.00250.00Shenandoah University Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Workshop
This workshop will take you through the basics of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) or when faculty from different countries create a module in their classes where their students develop a joint project. Faculty design the module together and have their students work on their project virtually through several weeks of the semester. The workshop covers how to create international ice breakers, work through cross cultural and logistical challenges and the various collaborative technologies. COIL allows students to have an international experience without traveling and encourages them to consider study abroad and faculty-led trips. It further prepares them for the future workforce which is global, hybrid, and remote.
Benefits of Participation:
- Professional development in designing virtual international exchanges and culturally responsive pedagogy
- Networking opportunities among a community of international faculty colleagues
- Travel opportunities to present research related to the virtual exchange/collaborations at an international conference
