In the current era of the Science of Reading, we often focus so intently on the mechanics of decoding that we risk neglecting, building background knowledge, vocabulary and language comprehension, Dr. Molly Ness, a seasoned researcher, teacher educator, and author of Think Big with Think Alouds, Making Words Stick, Every Minute Matters, and Read Alouds for All Learners reminds us that reading aloud is a high-leverage pedagogical tool rather than a passive 'story time.' Dr. Ness asserts, that read alouds are not confined to the literacy block; it is a universal strategy that boosts engagement and performance across every subject, from the science lab to the history class. The secret to this lies in intentional, high-level planning that moves the read-aloud from a classroom 'extra' to an essential part of, evidence-based instruction." Door prizes of the Dr. Ness’ books will be announced during this session.
All Author Visits will be recorded. Recordings will be provided to registrants after event.
