Virtual Author Visit: Children’s book illustrator and graphic designer Holly Hatam loves to combine line drawings, photography, and texture to create illustrations that pack energy and personality. She is the illustrator of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Dear Girl, Dear Boy, and Dear Teacher, which she created with Amy, Paris, and Jason Rosenthal. She is the illustrator of John Schu’s latest book, Ruthie Rose’s Big Idea. During Holly’s Author Visit, she will take your students through the steps of how a picture book is created from concept to finished illustrations. Students will also get a peak behind the curtain, and she will share the surprises (Easter eggs) found in the illustrations of John Schu’s Ruthie Rose’s Big Idea. Students will be inspired to work together to create “The Poetry Place”: “a space for everyone, a space for anyone to explore.” in their school. Don’t miss this session; five lucky classrooms will receive an autographed copy of Ruthie Rose’s BIG IDEA. (Grades K-4)
Happy Hour: After the students have left for the day, join other educators for a live virtual conversation with Holly Hatam. Learn the story behind the stories. Q & A time and door prizes will add to the joy! Corresponding Happy Hour with the speaker included with the purchase of the Author Visit.
All Author Visits will be recorded. Recordings will be provided to registrants after event.
