Virtual Author Visit: Comic books were a lifesaver for illustrator Cátia Chien. As a child immigrant to the U.S., growing up she struggled to find her voice. The virtual visit with Cátia Chien offers your class a glimpse of Chien’s journey from a struggling immigrant child to the creator of the 2026 Caldecott Medalist, Fireworks!, a testament to the power of art. Beyond her latest award-winning work, her portfolio includes A Boy and a Jaguar, The Bear and the Moon, My Blue Is Happy, and The Town of Turtle. If you want your students to see how personal challenges can be channeled into a brilliant career register your class for a visit with Cátia Chien, the winner of the 2026 Caldecott medal.

Happy Hour: After the students have left for the day, join other educators for a live virtual conversation with Cátia Chien. Learn the story behind the stories. Q & A time and door prizes will add to the joy! Corresponding Happy Hour with the speaker included with the purchase of the Author Visit.

All Author Visits will be recorded. Recordings will be provided to registrants after event.
