This course provides advanced interdisciplinary study of African and Black Diaspora arts. We will focus on visual art expression from 1900 to the present day. Students will engage with history, cultural studies and theory to deepen their engagement with representative works. In addition to intellectual exploration, students will create their own pieces, drawing inspiration from what we study.
