SAGE Scholars

Shenandoah University is proud to introduce SAGE (Shenandoah Adult Growth & Enrichment) Scholars, an unique initiative designed for adults aged 60 and older. As a central component of SU’s commitment to becoming an Age-Friendly University, this program offers participants the unique opportunity to engage in authentic university courses side-by-side with undergraduate students on a space-available basis. This program invites seasoned learners to bring their diverse life experiences into the classroom, strengthening our scholarly community and promoting intergenerational connections.

Courses this coming Fall semester include offerings in art, history, literature, and psychology. Meeting times range from 9am to 4:30pm M-F at SU’s Winchester campus.

Courses are non-credit-bearing and require no written homework or exams. Scholars are not expected to attend every class session. After registration, course instructors will share syllabi with Scholars showing days designated as “SAGE-Friendly”, with expected time commitments of 3-6 hours per month.
